The Domino's Pizza Hero is an app for the iPad that is essentially a game that teaches you how to make pizzas. The app leads you through the steps of making a pizza such as kneading the dough, spreading the sauce, sprinkling the cheese etc. Go through pizza school, play through 11 levels and survive "the rush."
The game is great, but is there more to this than just making a virtual pizza to get the highest points? Actually, there is! The app also allows consumers to create their own pizza to be sent in and ordered for pickup or delivery.
For integrated marketing and communications, creativity and changing with the times is essential for a business to be successful. Domino's of an app on a device that is always growing such as the iPad, is very smart. Not only does the app intrigue the consumer to play the game and compete with others, but it entices them to order pizza as well.
This app is one of the first that has a game involved while still allowing the consumer to order a pizza in the middle of the fun.
Another perfect example of the future of marketing. With the boost of mobile technology, it is more rewarding, even expected, for companies to provide consumers with more than just promotional material. In my opinion, Domino's Pizza Hero app is clearly a creative effort to make consumers feel like they have received something "cool" and useful, thus, creating a preference or desire to buy from Domino's in return for its free app. Not no mention it's also an inovative and highly interactive way to order pizza. If I had an iPad and this app, I would order a pizza even for the mere purpose of trying this new service.
ReplyDeleteI have done this before and it is absolutely amazing. This app is a great and creative idea because it allows the customer to take control and create their own pizza in a unique way. Not only is this app unique, but as well as convenient. Everyone is always in a hurry, therefore, this app allows them to create their pizza on their tablet and then send it in to Dominos, have it made and delivered! This just shows how interesting it will be to see what technology brings in the future.

ReplyDeleteDominoes remembered a key rule when dealing with consumers, the more that they see your logo or product, the more likely the chance that they will buy your product. By making this a fun game, Dominoes has ensure that it will find its way into more hands. Dominoes has embraced new technology, will other pizza companies follow suit?
ReplyDeleteDomino's has done a great job with this app because it targets everyone. It is not just a game that a kid would play because you can end up ordering a pizza of your choice at the end. That is what really makes it unique. Most food places have their menus pretty much set in stone, but here they are giving the customer the opportunity to choose whatever they want. Marketing teams are always trying to fit the needs of the consumer, and this is a great way of doing it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way for Dominos to become fresh in the consumers minds. This targets a younger audience because they get to create their own pizza through the use of technology which increases the amount of fun the individual will have by ordering a pizza. Consumers will be more inclined to purchase more pizzas if they get to use a fun program compared to ordering on the phone. Dominos will be able to meet the needs of the consumers easier then by having the consumer tell them what they want on their pizza over the phone.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for Dominos, especially after the videos that leaked a while back about employees tainting pizzas before sending them out.. I see this as almost a PR move for Dominos as they make their way back from hitting rock bottom. It's one thing that sets them apart for the number of competitors. It's a great way to incorporate fun into the pizza ordering process and I think people will respond positively to it.
