Building your product through Facebook

Facebook has become a widely know social media over the years. It is not only used as a way to reconnect with friends across the world, but also seen as a way to advertise a company’s product. These Facebook pages allow consumers to get insight and have discussions about the products they are interested in.

Some company’s may not think that their product would be successful on a social media like Facebook, but if a consumer is passionate about your product – they will talk about it. Whether you are advertising make-up, clothes, or kitchen items, a Facebook page will help get your product out there. SEOmoz shows the most popular and effective media sites to market your business. Facebook, being ranked #1, has a “massive reach” that gives a great opportunity to connect with current, past, or potential customers. Since people are latching on more and more to social media, this is a convenient place for the consumer to look for information. No one wants to be a step behind there competitor, especially in today’s society. Give the consumer a reason to pick your brand over your competitor. So, there’s no excuse for you to keep your advertising within the pages of a magazine, on television, or in the store. Go out and get those young kids and soon to be adults that are on Facebook everyday. If they aren’t going to go out and search for the information, bring the information to them.

  2. This correlates well with our forum we may have attended last night about social media and the impacts it has on us. All social media platforms are gaining popularity. It is considered not normal to be facebook-less. By the growing popularity, it is convincing that selling products on these social media platforms will offer the owner the best selling venue. Company's will gain a more established name in this technology savvy generation. Company's will also be reaching a different audience. I agree entirely with the display methods companies are using by placing this information online.

  3. I agree that it is important for companies to get their product on Facebook. It is not the easiest thing to get people to see it though. People to not always realize the advertisement is on the side of the screen. I think it is important to do other forms of advertising and convince people to “like” your product. I believe that is the key. Once someone “likes” your product, it is like extra advertisement! That person’s friend will see it on their page and then potentially look into what it is. The hardest thing is to get people to start “liking” your product. After that people can start writing testimonials on the page and others can find (hopefully good) information about your product. Once you get to that point, it gets much easier from there.

  4. Using Facebook to advertise products is a great way to get your product name out there and develop brand awareness. If it is a new product, this is a chance for people to see it and stimulate interest because the ads are viewable on the right hand side of the page. If it is a known product, it will still be viewable and will allow the audience to "like" the page and find out more information about the product while keeping the target audience updated about their product. Overall, Facebook a great way to have people learn about your product, it's benefits and potentially it's "reviews."
